Until the fifteenth century, the square did not exist as it is known today and in its place there was only a flowery meadow with some vegetable gardens, hence the name. According to ancient legend, but the square owes its name to Flora (woman loved by Pompey).
Campo de’ Fiori is one of the busiest squares in Rome. Full of bars, restaurants, pizzerias and pubs is an important meeting place for both tourists and the city’s youth. To make it even more unique, Campo de’ Fiori is the only Roman square where there are no churches.
